Spirited Sax

Presence Becoming
Picture
Every fortnight, I honour my call. I choose a piece of music — something most people already carry somewhere inside them. A melody you might know without ever knowing its name. And I choose a theme. Quietly, with intention, receptive to the link. Between the phrases, a few words appear on the screen. Not a lecture. Not a lesson. Something closer to what the music itself is already doing — pointing inward. The topic might be laughter. Or sleep. Or the weight of buried emotions. Or the simple, radical act of breathing consciously. Each recording finds its own theme. Each theme finds its own piece of music. The two arrive together, the way they always have in a life well lived.

This is Spirited Sax. A biweekly series linking music with our wellbeing — now into its second year, with over thirty recordings and counting. It isn't a performance in the traditional sense. What you find here is an invitation — to pause for a few minutes, let the music find its pathway in, and notice what it stirs. It lives in the noise of social media, and offers the opposite — a musical pause, a breath drawn in the middle of the scroll. Music draws them in. Something else keeps them.
The music chosen leans classical. Not out of any hierarchy of taste, but because these are the pieces that have already done the work of time. They have accompanied grief and celebration, solitude and ceremony, for centuries. They arrive carrying a stillness that contemporary life rarely offers. Set alongside a theme from our inner life — creativity, kindness, abundance, the courage to decide — the music becomes something more than beautiful. It becomes useful.
You are welcome to watch from the beginning, choose a topic or favourite piece, or simply start where you find yourself today. If you sense that music might be more than entertainment — that it has something to offer your life beyond the playlist — then Spirited Sax was made with you in mind.

Music, linked with our wellbeing — a pathway in to joy, healing, purpose, and remembrance.
