About

Where the music leads me
Picture
There are many doors that welcome you into MyMusicPB. A lesson. A live concert or a recording. A post that caught you mid-scroll, at a moment you were looking for a change. However you arrived, music is the thread that led you here — and you're already following it.

I'm Phillip Brunton. Musician, writer, teacher.

Music has always been here. As a child, as a student, as a musician, as a teacher. But for a long time, music was the thing playing in the background of a life I was performing rather than living. I spent years chasing the outward markers — recognition, results, the next thing — with the music quietly present, and me not really listening.

Leaving full-time work gave me space to pause, reflect, process and become. With the help of contemplative teachers and a daily meditation practice, I began to align with awareness over thought. Presence Became the thing I was working from, rather than the thing I was chasing.
Music returned more deeply. Much more than a performance or a career, but a doorway inwards. The most universal one we have.  That's the thread now. Spirited Sax — a recording every other week. Alive with Music — a Play Book soon to be launched, an invitation to journey back to the key stages and melodies in your own life. The Practice Book — still alive, still valued, with gratitude to those using it. And the quieter work behind all of it: finding our Personal Best, the kind that's already here, waiting to be recognised.

A few other things, in case they matter. I ran my second marathon at 62 with a PB. I write better on my receptive days. What I do in this life has more meaning with Julie in my heart, and two creative adult children who continue to inspire me.

If any of this sounds like your kind of room, the doors are open. The music opens them. I'm just standing nearby.
